最终称重测量后如何重新询价:shipping quote revision after final warehouse measurement 的核对与分箱复核清单

Why the quote changes after final weighing

ManyCanadaWhen buyers order on Taobao, JD, or 1688, the weight and dimensions the seller provides are only estimates. Once the parcel actually arrives at the China warehouse, the warehouse reweighs it, measures the outer box, and confirms whether unpacking and consolidation are needed. At this point, a difference between the initial quote and the final quote is normal—the key is to check each difference item by item, then decide whether to request a new quote. This article addresses just one search intent: when the final weighing and measurement differ from the initial data, how to check the outer box, weight, dimensions, and split-box plan, and then request a new quote (shipping quote revision after final warehouse measurement).

Step 1: First determine which type of data has changed

Don't rush to reorder the moment you see a quote change. First classify the change so you can tell whether it's a data discrepancy, a packaging change, or a split-box plan that needs adjusting.

Change type Common causes Check actions
Per-item weight change Seller data is an estimate; the actual item may include filling or free gifts Check the warehouse's actual-weight photo against the weight on the seller's order page
Change in outer box dimensions Original box deformed, reinforced packaging, outer box replaced after consolidation Check the measurement photos of length, width, and height and the consolidation plan
Change in number of pieces Some orders have not all arrived, or were temporarily split into multiple packages Check the list of orders included and temporarily not included in this consolidation
Change in chargeable weight The greater of volumetric weight and actual weight is used; volumetric weight increases after consolidation Recalculate according to the channel rules, do not make assumptions on your own

Step 2: Verify the outer boxes and measurement records

Confirm three things with the warehouse: whether the outer box is the original box, whether it has been reinforced or replaced, and whether the measurement includes protruding tape and labels. It is recommended to confirm item by item according to the following checklist:

  • Whether measurement photos of all six sides of the outer box are complete, and whether length, width, and height are read in the same direction;
  • Whether the weighing photo shows the scale reading and the entire parcel;
  • Whether the outer box is replaced after consolidation, and whether the reason for replacement is recorded;
  • Whether the outer box has obvious damage and whether it needs to be handled before dispatch;
  • Whether the measurement data matches the warehouse system records, and whether any discrepancies have notes.

If the photos and records don't match, first ask the warehouse to retake photos or re-measure; do not use estimated values to re-request a quote, otherwise the new quote will still change again.

Step 3: Review the repacking plan

Changes in weight and dimensions are often not because the product itself changed, but because the box-splitting method changed. Before re-requesting a quote, first confirm exactly how this shipment will be split into boxes:

  • Which orders are included in this consolidation and which are temporarily excluded;
  • Whether it was split into two boxes because a single box was overweight or oversized;
  • Whether the actual weight, dimensions, and piece count of each box after unpacking are recorded separately;
  • Whether fragile items, liquids, etc. need separate packaging, which would change the outer box dimensions;
  • Whether the split-package plan has been confirmed with the buyer, to avoid adjustments after dispatch.

Once the split-package plan is confirmed, quote each package separately rather than simply adding up the weights of multiple packages. For the basic logic of combining and splitting packages, please refer to Consolidation Shipping Instructions.

Step 4: What information to provide when requesting a new quote

Re-quoting isn't just about sending over the new numbers and calling it done. To make the quote reproducible, we recommend providing the following information all at once:

  • The actual weight and length, width, and height of each package, noting the measurement time;
  • The number of packages and the order numbers included this time;
  • The destination country is Canada; the recipient's postal code and city;
  • Whether reinforcement, box replacement, or special packaging is needed;
  • Whether you accept splitting into multiple packages priced separately;
  • The original quote number or inquiry record, for easy comparison of differences.

Quotes vary with channel, fuel surcharges, and destination country requirements. Specific prices and available channels are subject to real-time quotes. You can find this in Price Explanation Check the fields required for a quote. After registering, you can also submit measurement data within your account, see Registration Portal.

Step 5: Decision order after confirming the differences

After receiving the new quote, make your decision in the following order to avoid repeatedly changing your order:

  1. Confirm whether the difference comes from measurement error; if so, re-measure first, then request a quote;
  2. Confirm whether the difference comes from the splitting plan; if so, finalize the split first, then request a quote;
  3. Compare quotes for consolidated shipping versus separate shipments, and pay attention to volumetric weight rules;
  4. Confirm the destination country's customs and tax requirements; please refer to the latest official requirements of Canada Customs or the tax authorities;
  5. Confirm whether the outbound time affects your subsequent arrangements, then decide whether to accept the new quote.

Common exceptions and how to handle them

  • Actual warehouse weight is less than the seller's information:The actual warehouse weight still prevails, but have the warehouse confirm whether any items were missed during loading.
  • Volumetric weight rises noticeably after consolidation:Check whether it's due to excessive packing material or an oversized outer box; repacking can be discussed.
  • Some orders haven't all arrived:First confirm whether to wait, to avoid repeatedly requesting quotes for orders that haven't arrived.
  • Measurement photos missing:Request additional photos before asking for a new quote; estimates without records are not accepted.

If you have questions about the measurements or repacking, you can contact us via Contact Us Submit the parcel number and photos so the warehouse can review them against the same set of records. Verify all four items—outer box, weight, dimensions, and repacking plan—clearly, then request a new quote so the final price is backed by verifiable records.
